Mama Tried, a novel by Kathy Des Jardins

For 17 years, Kathy worked at newspapers in Kentucky, Louisiana, California and Pennsylvania, including an 11-year period that produced nearly 100 national and state awards for writing, editing, design and photography. In 1996, she moved to Georgia and helped launch KRC Communications, a full-service publications company that was most recently honored with the 2016 USTA Georgia Marc Kaplan Media Excellence Award.

Kathy’s first novel, Mama Tried, can be purchased for reading on a Kindle and as a printed book via pre-order on Amazon. The novel will be available for sale on April 13, 2022.. She writes under the name of Kathy Des Jardins.

What Kathy offers clients is expertise that has garnered such honors as a first-place for humor from the National Federation of Press Women, the California Press Women’s Outstanding Excellence Award and Louisiana Press Association’s Best Regular Columnist for two consecutive years.

KRC Communications currently boasts a large and diverse family of publications ranging from clients with international impact to grassroots programs that turn fundraisers into keepsakes. While many vendors print programs, KRC creates memories to cherish for generations.

Kathy’s volunteer work in Johns Creek, Georgia, has included serving as publicity chair for Chattahoochee High School’s Athletic Booster Association since 2006 as well as numerous board positions with sports booster clubs and elementary, middle and high-school PTAs. Most recently, she was honored with the 2017 Eric Rudolph Service Award from the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference. They were the first recipients of the Savannah College of Art & Design men’s lacrosse program’s Kathy & Ron Cioffi Volunteer of the Year award.

Her writing continues, with national, regional and local magazine credits.

Ron Cioffi

Ron’s decades-long career features accomplishments, awards and publication credits in graphic design, photography and writing. In graphic design, Ron has worked as Senior Art Director at Bank of America and has taught graphic design as an Assistant Professor and Adjunct Professor at the University of North Georgia and the Art Institutes of Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

He has led the design, art and photography of InfoWorld and Inside Tennis, along with three daily newspapers, including The Bakersfield Californian. He has built or managed more than 25 websites and holds a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. Ron’s photography and writing credits include NewsweekThe New York TimesThe Washington PostYankee magazine, Tennis magazine, Racquet Sports Industry magazine and American Photographer. His awards include a Bronze Medal from the Society of Newspaper Design, the International Association of Business Communications Silver Quill Award of Merit and first place from the Connecticut News Photographers Association.

He is the co-owner of TennisReporters.net, the only website to win the USTA Media Excellence Award. Along with Kathy, they were honored with the 2016 USTA Georgia Marc Kaplan Media Excellence Award and the 2017 Eric Rudolph Service Award from the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference. They were the first recipients of the Savannah College of Art & Design men’s lacrosse program’s Kathy & Ron Cioffi Volunteer of the Year award. Employed as US Tennis Association, Southern Section’s Director, Communications, he also served as Media Director of the ATP Atlanta Open for six years

Ron’s volunteer service in Johns Creek, GA, includes being the Founder and President of Arts On The Creek, which established the city’s arts festival. He serves as President of the Atlanta Professional Tennis Umpires Association (and 2020 Official of the Year) and is a member of the Legacy Center of Johns Creek Task Force. Previously he served as Vice Chair of the City of Johns Creek Arts and Culture Board, a board member of the Georgia Piedmont Youth Orchestra and as a coach of the Chattahoochee High School Junior Cougar Baseball and Lacrosse teams.
